Growing up in Jamaica, Oklahoma City chef Andrew Black said though his family had little money, it was a still time of great abundance.
"When you think of how we eat in the Caribbean and because we're such a mixed culture, there will be so much there for everybody," Black said. "I didn't know we were doing farm to table as a kid and that exposed it. You don't know — fruits — I didn't know we had an abundance of fruits. When I look back now, I'm like, we had so much fruits, it would just sit and rot."
