DOVER-FOXCROFT — Despite recent rainfall, much of Maine remains in a drought — and the prolonged conditions have caused problems for people who rely on well water. That includes one local restaurant that was forced to shut its doors.
Peace Love Waffles, a breakfast spot in Dover-Foxcroft, was opened by Michael Begley with his mom and stepdad in 2021.
“It was all mom’s idea. She came up with the name, the menu. She came up with turning this old barn into what it is right now. And it’s her and her husband that did the majority of the work on it,” Begley said.
Due to complications from the ongoing drought, the restaurant has been closed for more than two weeks.
“This drought that we’re in right now has certainly affected us. September 28th, at the very end of the day, after we had done t
