PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) - Downtown Pineville is continuing to change as city leaders push to bring new life to the area.
One longtime building, formerly known as Red River Rarities, will soon be torn down to make room for something new. The building has been part of downtown for years, but city officials said it is not considered historic.
Mayor Joe Bishop said the city is waiting for asbestos to be safely removed before demolition begins.
“Within probably 30 days, this building will be coming down,” Bishop said. “We’re going to tear it down and create a green space here in downtown Pineville with beautiful lights and magnolia trees. That way, when a festival or parade comes through, we could have food vendors set up on the lot.”
The mayor said this project is part of Pineville’s ongoin
