LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Even though local Laredo College and Texas A&M International University do not charge for application fees, other colleges do.
Starting today, Texas students can now apply to public universities without paying admission fees.
The initiative allows students to apply to Texas schools for free from October 13-19. This occurs through the ApplyTexas platform. The measure was approved under senate bill 2231.
This applies for incoming freshmen and those seeking to transfer to new institutions.
LISD officials are pushing the matter here at home to take advantage of the initiative.
Cindy Dominguez, LISD director of guidance and counseling said some application fees can range from 35-75 dollars. Regardless of the price it is an opportunity to save money.
