STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. – Stevens County Fire District 1 will buy two new CPR compression devices after winning a $35,000 Federal Emergency Management Agency grant.
The devices help reduce the need for the extra staffing required to perform CPR, wrote the district.
This is especially helpful because the many of District 1’s calls bring them to rural areas and hospitals sparse, wrote the district.
“Effective CPR can wane over time, as first responders get tired or staffing is minimal,” they said.
The CPR compression devices are also compatible with LifeFlight for air transportation.
Crews will receive training on the devices before they are put into service full time.
