INDIANAPOLIS — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a school bus north of West Lafayette Monday afternoon.
According to Indiana State Police, the pedestrian was walking across SR 43 from the Speedway gas station to the Phillips 66 gas station just south of CR 600 North around 1:30 p.m. the school bus, which was not occupied at the time of the crash, was traveling north in the left lane of SR 43 when it struck the pedestrian.
The Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Their name will be released after identification is made and family members are notified.
The bus involved in the crash is operated by the Tippecanoe School Corporation, police said.
No other injuries were reported, according to state police, which continues to investigate the crash.
