A Greeley man accused of fatally shooting two people in 2022 before fleeing to California will undergo another competency evaluation after a motion was filed to declare him incompetent.
On Tuesday morning, the defense team for Paul Anthony Delgado Jr., 45, filed a motion to declare him incompetent. Later that afternoon, Delgado appeared in front of Senior Weld County District Judge Marcelo Kopcow to discuss the motion.
Delgado has undergone several competency evaluations since his September 2022 arrest, being found both competent and incompetent multiple times. In the most recent evaluation, which was completed in February, Delgado was found competent.
The motion for a new evaluation was sealed, so only Kopcow and the defense could read it. Kopcow said it included a statement of good fa
