ST PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) gave an update Monday about its investigation into hundreds of data errors officials said were discovered in connection with DWI testing tools in several counties.
BCA Superintendent Drew Evans said the agency discovered information from five DataMaster breath testing instruments may have been entered incorrectly into law enforcement systems across Hennepin, Aitkin, Olmsted, Winona and Chippewa Counties that could impact 275 DWI cases. Evans said the BCA was first made aware of potential errors on Sept. 12, later prompting a statewide inspection.
