COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -The Colorado Springs City Council is set to vote Tuesday on a resolution recognizing October 14 as “Charlie Kirk Day.”
The proposal mirrors a national Senate resolution honoring the conservative political activist, who was assassinated last month while speaking at a university in Utah.
Councilmember Brandy Williams, who introduced the measure, says the goal is to encourage civic engagement and dialogue.
In a statement to 11 News, Williams said, “Recognizing Kirk aligns with the city’s values of faith, service, and leadership, and that the resolution is meant to inspire young people to get involved and think critically.”
Councilman Dave Donelson is opposing the resolution. In a written statement, he said City Council should focus on local issues like appr
