WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — The principal of St. Peter School in Warwick has been placed on administrative leave after several teachers voluntarily resigned last week, 12 News has learned.
In a letter sent to parents, Rev. Roger Gagné announced St. Peter School Principal Denise Alcala was placed on administrative leave Monday.
Gagné said the decision was the result of concerns brought forth by parents, but stopped short of providing specifics.
Kevin Peloquin, the assistant director of education at the Diocese of Providence's Catholic School Office, will serve as the school's interim principal for the time being, according to Gagné.
Gagné also said Father Gregory Stowe will also be stepping in to lead St. Peter School, though his exact role is unclear.
