MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The West Memphis Fire Department is reminding the public about the dangers of mismatched charging cords after one nearly set a house on fire.
On Sept. 26, firefighters responded to a call about the smell of something burning at a residence on South Roselawn. When they arrived, they determined the smell was coming from a faulty phone charger near the bed that had started to melt.
"So the heat source was the phone charger. It had shorted itself out. The end that goes into the phone," said Malik Walker, a deputy fire inspector at the West Memphis Fire Department·
