HOMICIDE detectives are yet to speak to the occupant who was living with an elderly man found dead inside an Armidale home.

The Markham Street home remains cordoned off on Tuesday morning with forensic officers combing the crime scene after a man in his 70s was found dead on Monday, October 13.

The 25-year-old man who was the only other person living at the address remains in hospital.

New England Detective Inspector Kingsley Chapman told the Leader he's yet to speak to detectives.

"No he's not under police guard, but he definitely remains someone who police need to speak to as part of the investigation, and he will be spoken to once medically able to," he said on Tuesday morning.
