WASHINGTON ( 25News Now ) - Parents of a Washington Junior Football League of Central Illinois team believe their team was unfairly left out of the playoffs after a coin toss was used to pick between two teams.

JFL of Central Illinois held this year’s playoff seeding meeting on Monday night, where a coin toss determined Knoxville would be in the playoffs over Washington for their 11-under teams.

The Washington team’s parents said they are confused about the result and claim the organization did not follow Illinois High School Association guidelines for determining playoff teams, skipping steps necessary to take before a coin toss is needed.

Parent Amber Smith said she has been flooded with messages from other frustrated parents after she shared her own concerns online.
