A teenage boy was who killed by a truck while walking to school in regional Victoria has been remembered by his family as a "gentle, warm and loving" young man who was on the cusp of starting his life.

Thom Hosking, 15, was walking to Girton Grammar School in Bendigo when tragedy struck on October 10.

Despite being only 250 metres from his school, Thom was hit by a truck at the intersection of High Street and Myrtle Street in Golden Square.

A passerby started CPR, but despite numerous efforts to revive Thom, he died at the scene.

Less than a week after the horrific incident, Thom’s father Andrew, mother Kim and sister Charli have described him as a "boy who was entering manhood" with his whole life ahead of him.
