NORMAN — OU football quarterback John Mateer did zero good-on-good work last week ahead of the Texas game.

The Sooners' starting quarterback wasn't cleared to play by doctors until Thursday and missed out on valuable practice reps throughout the week. Mateer returned to the field 17 days after undergoing surgery on his throwing hand and attempted a season-high 38 passes despite the lack of practice over two-plus weeks.
