VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Sentara Health has notified more than 200 employees they may be impacted by upcoming layoffs, a spokesperson said Monday.
About 220 employees are affected, and they were notified the week of Sept. 29, according to Colin Drozdowski, president of Sentara Health Plans and executive vice president of Sentara Health. About 400 positions are being eliminated, but 180 of them are vacant.
The majority of the positions are within Sentara Health Plans, with the remainder being corporate shared services positions that primarily support health plan operations. The final number of impacted employees is yet to be determined, as some people may be able to find another role within Sentara.
