TYLER, Texas (KETK) -- The week of the 92nd annual Texas Rose Festival is finally here and community members are gearing up to celebrate a weekend full of tradition.
Since its inception in 1933, inspired by the World's Fair, the Texas Rose Festival has grown into one of the world's largest floral pageants, drawing thousands of visitors each year.
The festival began as a dream of Tyler civic leaders who sought to create a festival to promote the fame of Tyler roses. Planning for the first festival started just six weeks before the event, with the support of local rose growers.
