TYLER, Texas — The Texas Rose Festival, one of East Texas' most colorful staple events, is back for its 92nd year.

The festival returns this week to Tyler starting Thursday and running through Sunday with community events, pageantry, creativity and roses. This year's theme is "A Tapestry of Tales."

Attendees can expect dazzling gowns matching the theme, a colorful parade, live entertainment, luncheons, arts and crafts and more.

This year's Rose Queen is Avery Craft Armstrong.

The festival started in 1933, born from Tyler's rose industry — after a peach disease pushed local farmers to switch crops. Now, it draws thousands of visitors each year, celebrating both the beauty of the blooms and the spirit of East Texas.
