JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) - A former University of Iowa employee plead guilty on Monday to multiple felonies including first-degree theft and first-degree fraudulent practice.
Brian Busch has been under investigation since 2021 after authorities say his company, D3signtech, was paid by an outside company for work done using the UI's physics machine shop . Busch and his employees are believed to have been on the university's payroll at the time the work was being completed.
Busch has been ordered to pay the university more than $173,000 in restitution.
A sentencing date has not yet been set.
