TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Heavy rains have filled washes throughout Pima County, keeping Tucson firefighters busy with multiple wash rescues.

Over the weekend, the Tucson Fire Department responded to eight swift water rescues and nine stranded vehicle calls. Some rescues required an aerial truck for access, and with rain continuing, the department remains on alert for more emergencies.

"Don't drive through any type of water. Go around. Your life is not worth the extra 10 minutes it would take to drive around the water," said Jaime Sieminski, Tucson Fire Department special operations coordinator.

Fortunately, there were no serious injuries during the weekend rescues.
