OMAHA, Neb. —
As families in Israel — both Palestinian and Jewish — reunite with their loved ones, members of Omaha’s Jewish community are marking the release of Israeli hostages with solemn reflection and cautious hope.

A prayer service was held in Israel to celebrate the release of hostages, according to Ari Kohen, University of Nebraska-Lincoln professor and director of the Norman and Bernice Harris Center for Judaic Studies.
“This is a fraction of what it used to be,” said Sharon Brodkey, executive director of the council, as she walked through a commemorative exhibit on the war at the Jewish Community Center.
