Incensed ANZ workers hit the streets on Tuesday to protest the major bank’s massive restructure where thousands of jobs will be axed.
The nation’s fourth largest bank last month revealed plans to sack 3500 workers while another 1000 contractors at the bank will be impacted.
ANZ chief executive Nuno Matos has pursued a major overhaul of the bank which many have said is bloated and lags behind its competitors.
The Finance Sector Union, which is taking ANZ to the Fair Work Commission over the sackings , will rally outside the bank’s Melbourne headquarters on Tuesday.
The revolt follows Mr Matos revealing the bank’s ANZ 2030 strategy where it looks to win wealthy customers, boost productivity, slash costs and halt its $800m share buyback.
