HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) -The Holyoke Fire Department responded to several small fires Monday. Thankfully no one was hurt, but the department highlighted two of the most notable fires.
In one incident, crews responded to 115 Newton Street around noon. When they arrived, they saw a small fire in an abandoned building. They quickly put it out, and the cause is under investigation.
In another, crews responded to the salvation army building on Appleton Street just before 7:00 Monday night. Firefighters were met with smoke around the boiler and chimney area. An official investigation is underway, but firefighters believe it was caused by a faulty boiler.
