PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The Broadway Bridge was closed to traffic for six months on Monday, as crews replace the bridge deck.
The bridge - built in 1913 and connecting the Pearl District to the Rose Quarter - will be closed to cars, trucks, and public transit through April 2026.
The bridge’s south sidewalk will be open to people on foot and bicycle for most of construction, though will be closed Tuesday from 9-11 a.m.
Portland Streetcar routes will have the following modifications during construction:
The streetcar will serve the east side via the Tilikum Crossing, turning around on either end of the Broadway Bridge.
A and B loop streetcars will operate as one line, going both directions through downtown and along the central east side.
