LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Members of Fayette County Public Schools' district audit committee appeared before the school board for the first time since being tasked with managing an external investigation into the district's budget and operations.

"One of the first things that came up in our discussion was, we have never had an audit either done by the external auditors or by the internal auditors on our budget process," Dave Osborne, a member of the audit committee, said.

The district's emergency fund will be examined, as it fell short of projections by about $16 million.
