One week after the Sacramento helicopter crash that claimed the life of flight nurse Suzie Smith, her husband R.J. Smith is sharing a message of faith, love, and resilience. Suzie, a REACH Air Medical Services nurse known for her compassion and dedication, died from injuries sustained in the Oct. 6 crash along Highway 50. The pilot and paramedic aboard survived but remain in critical condition. R.J., speaking publicly for the first time, described Suzie as “a champion for the less fortunate.” Her community has honored her through an honor walk and a viral tribute song titled “Our Angel Who Flew,” written by family friend Tony Baldwin. Suzie’s legacy of faith and service continues through her organ donation and the lives she touched across Northern California.
