CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. — Clarendon County leaders are making new investments to keep tourism growing across the area.
At Monday night’s council meeting, the Clarendon County Council voted to approve a $68,000 funding fee to the Chamber of Commerce.
“Actually our big thing is golf and fishing here in Clarendon County,” said interim county administrator Sharmane Anderson. “They hold not just international, but nationwide fishing tournaments here at the John C. Landon Pier.”
The Chamber of Commerce receives this fund every year to help support the tourism director and interim director. The money comes from how well the county’s fishing tournaments perform, with 20 percent of the income from those tournaments going back into the tourism fund.
