LONGVIEW, Wash. – A powerful storm swept through Longview, causing significant damage and destruction.
The Longview Fire Department shared photos and videos showing the storm tearing off the roof of a building, with at least four buildings affected. They described it as a possible tornado or wet microburst.
Temporary structures, fences and trees were damaged over several blocks. Multiple cars were also damaged by flying debris. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
The National Weather Service in Portland sent crews to the scene to determine the storm's nature. They surveyed the wind damage from a strong convective shower that passed through Longview just after 3:00 p.m.
