The Haryana government has sent Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur on leave amid a controversy surrounding the death of senior Indian Police Service officer Y Puran Kumar, The Hindu reported.

Kumar was found dead at his residence in Chandigarh’s Sector 11 on October 7. The police said he died by suicide.

In a “ final note ” recovered from the scene, Kumar named 11 serving and retired officers, including Kapur and Rohtak Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarniya, accusing them of caste-based discrimination.

Kumar’s post-mortem examination has not yet been conducted as his family has refused to allow it until Kapur and Bijarniya are arrested, The Hindu reported.
