Sometime in late January or early February of 2017, within days of then-Mayor John Hamilton asking the Bloomington City Council to approve his annexation plan , someone schlepped to the county courthouse dozens of annexation-related documents that should have been recorded decades earlier.
A local attorney and the former county recorder said the city’s failure to have the documents recorded in a timely manner was sloppy and deprived home buyers from obtaining crucial information about their property.
