A 20-year-old man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a pregnant 17-year-old girl Oct. 12 inside a Madison home.

Amare Ramey is facing two counts of criminal homicide after Nashville Police say Amya Finney's mother called authorities because she heard her daughter and Ramey arguing inside a home on Bixler Avenue.

An arrest affidavit said Amya's mother told a 911 operator she heard her daughter say "get off me" before the phone hung up.

When rescue personnel arrived, they found Amya in the bedroom of the home. She'd been shot in the abdomen, police said. She was taken Skyline Medical Center, where she later died.

Amya was two months pregnant at the time of the shooting, and Ramey was the father of the baby, police said.
