Despite Premier Doug Ford publicly swatting down an attempt by some Ontario mayors to preserve the speed cameras the province has signalled it will ban, London politicians will be looking for their colleagues to support another push. LFP’s Jack Moulton reports.
What is this new effort?
Coming to politicians for Tuesday’s city council meeting is a letter from Mayor Josh Morgan, deputy mayor Shawn Lewis, and councillors Anna Hopkins and Skylar Franke asking colleagues to endorse a resolution from the Association of Municipalities of Ontario calling for speed cameras to be strengthened and standardized.
The letter was in response to Premier Doug Ford repeatedly dunking on the cameras, calling them a “tax grab” and threatening legislation to ban them.
