Rising Victorian star Oliver Peake has seen up close what opportunities are in front of Australia's next generation of cricketers.
When Sam Konstas was famously ramping Indian pace ace Jasprit Bumrah last Boxing Day, Peake was running drinks out onto the MCG for his former Australian under-19 teammate.
Then yet to make his first-class debut, Peake watched in awe as his fellow Gen Z product made an instant impact on international cricket.
But the 19-year-old has started making a name for himself after steering Victoria home with an unbeaten 70 in last week's Sheffield Shield match against reigning champions South Australia.
"I was running him (Konstas) out gloves and drinks, and to watch him take down Bumrah was so cool to see," Peake said of his experience as Australia's water boy.
