NEW YORK (PIX11) – With the government shutdown entering its 13th day, air traffic controllers are getting their first partial check for their work.
If the stalemate continues, they will have no paycheck by Oct. 28.
The labor union that represents air traffic controllers will hand out leaflets at LaGuardia Airport on Tuesday to educate passengers about the government shutdown and its harmful effects on travel.
The union says that during the last shutdown, many controllers needed to work a second job to pay their bills, leading to significant stress and fatigue.
