An 80-year-old woman has died following a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Belle Terre Boulevard, just north of SR-100, Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to the FHP, the crash happened just before 3 p.m. on Monday.

Investigators said the 80-year-old woman was driving a sedan southbound in the left travel lane when her car veered off the roadway to the left. In doing so, she crossed into oncoming traffic, forcing other drivers to swerve, troopers say.

A 35-year-old woman driving northbound at the time in the right lane reportedly swerved off the roadway to the right, where her car crashed into a ditch.
