New Delhi: A church-run school in Kerala’s Ernakulam district has come under fire after it denied entry to a Class 8 student wearing a hijab. St Rita’s Public School in Palluruthy said the hijab violated it’s uniform rules.
The girl has alleged that she was not allowed to enter the class and was made to stand outside. “This school is not allowing me to wear a hijab. They made me stand at the entrance (of the classroom) and told me to remove it. Teachers were rude. I won’t study here,” the girl told NDTV.
The issue quickly sparked public outrage. The girl’s parents raised their concerns with the school, and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) also got involved.
