LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

Firefighters in Newburg rescued a person from their home after it caught fire early Tuesday morning.

Shortly after 7 a.m., crews from Okolona, Fern Creek and Jefferson County were called out to the 4200 block of Monticello Avenue for a house fire.

Once crews were on scene, they conducted a routine sweep of the house and discovered the person inside.

That person was taken to the hospital, but there's no word yet on their condition.

Officials said no firefighters were injured during the incident, and surrounding properties were left unharmed.

An investigation into the cause is ongoing.
