Mumbai Police have registered an FIR against at least 10 students from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) for allegedly organising an unauthorised event to mark the death anniversary of former Delhi University professor G N Saibaba on Sunday, October 12. The FIR also cites the alleged raising of slogans in support of Sharjeel Imam and Umar Khalid, both currently in jail in connection with the Delhi riots case.
The complaint was lodged by the TISS administration, which claimed no prior knowledge or permission was sought for the event. A police officer confirmed that offences have been registered under sections relating to unlawful assembly, promoting enmity, and prejudicing national harmony, among others. Notices have been issued to the students involved.
