WASHINGTON D.C. (WTVO) — President Donald Trump will posthumously award the Medal of Freedom to the late Charlie Kirk on Tuesday in honor of his impact during his lifetime, as recognized by national leaders.
The ceremony will take place on what would have been Kirk's 32nd birthday.
Kirk was murdered on September 10th during an appearance at Utah Valley University.
In response to his death, the President announced he would bestow the nation's highest civilian honor on Kirk.
Erika Kirk, Kirk's widow, is expected to attend the ceremony.
The Senate has approved a resolution calling for a national day of remembrance in honor of Charlie Kirk.
The posthumous award is meant to honor the impact Charlie Kirk had during his lifetime, as recognized by national leaders.
