A sex predator has been convicted of raping a doctor in a late-night attack in Glasgow city centre.

Mihai Nicolae Patran pounced on the 27-year-old stranger as she walked along Mitchell Street in the early hours of November 26 2023.

The traumatised victim eventually escaped naked from the waist down to the safety of a taxi.

Patran was later arrested - and went on to perform a sex act on himself while sitting in the dock during his first court appearance.

The 34-year-old Romanian first offender now faces a lengthy jail term after being found guilty of the crimes today, October 14. The doctor recalled her ordeal from behind screens at the trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
