FAIRFIELD, Calif. —
Soggy weather conditions contributed to a deadly crash early Tuesday morning in Fairfield, the California Highway Patrol said.
CHP was dispatched to a solo vehicle crash reported around 2:15 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 80 at Maunel Campos Parkway. A woman driver in her 20s died and a male passenger in his 20s sustained major injuries, CHP said.
It was unclear what speed the car was traveling or if alcohol/drugs were involved, but the weather is considered a contributing factor. Four eastbound lanes were closed and reopened at 4:37 a.m., CHP said.
