Gas prices across the U.S. are nearing the symbolic $2.99 per gallon threshold, and New Jersey drivers are beginning to feel some relief at the pump.
According to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 12 million price reports across 150,000 stations nationwide, the national average price of gasoline fell 6.4 cents over the past week to $3.02 per gallon, down 13.7 cents from a month ago and 14.4 cents from a year earlier. Diesel prices also declined, falling 3.5 cents to $3.63 per gallon.
As of Oct. 14, 2025, the AAA national average stood at $3.076, while the New Jersey average hovered slightly lower at $3.010. Within the state, prices varied modestly by county:
