While students adapt to the new school regulations for smartphones, they should also serve as a reminder to retail counter clerks to give their full effort to the job at hand.

Do your personal business and get your amusements on your own time, not that of your customer or employer. I find your attempt at “multitasking” to be rude, your personal conversations annoying, and the lack of attention to clients an insult to the dignity of customers.

Oh, and are we still supposed to tap a percentage in the tip box on the display screen we’re presented after we’re done?
