Middle-school sweethearts preparing to celebrate their first wedding anniversary were found shot dead in a car last week.

Rachel and Brandon Dumovich, aged 29 and 30, were just six days away from their anniversary when a Harvard police officer from Illinois noticed their car sitting on the roadside with its hazard lights on.

Believing the couple was experiencing simple car troubles, the officer approached the vehicle but was shocked to find the Dumoviches both deceased with a single gunshot wound each. A firearm was also discovered in the vehicle.

Authorities temporarily closed down the residential area and advised locals to shelter in place, however the alert was lifted at 7.30am the following morning due to “no ongoing threat to the community”.
