MISSOULA — Grizzlies defensive end Jake Mason has begun to carve out a role on Montana's defensive line in his second year in Missoula.

A Ferndale, Washington, native who transferred to Montana from Washington after the Huskies' 2023 national championship appearance, he tallied a career-high four total tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss, against Idaho State.

His last tackle of the night came in the fourth quarter as the Bengals held a 3-point lead. Already at the Montana 33-yard line, ISU running back Dason Brooks took a handoff needing just 1 yard for a first down. Mason brought down Brooks for a 1-yard loss, setting up a third-and-2 and an eventual turnover on downs after a fourth-down stop.
