India’s first Bullet Train project, between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, has entered its final phase, with August 2027 set as the target for the inauguration of a section of the high-speed rail corridor, between Surat and Bilimora in Gujarat.
The eventual 508-km-long line, connecting Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex to Sabarmati in Ahmedabad, is expected to be fully operational by December 2029, making it one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in the country.
Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the 352-km-long section in Gujarat, from Vapi to Sabarmati, will be completed by late 2027.
