ANNA, Texas — For more than a decade, families in Anna have pulled up to Spurlock’s Malt Shop for burgers, cheesy fries, and of course, its signature malts. But soon, the classic drive-in will serve its final meal.

Owner Kristi Spurlock Perez said her family’s ties to the restaurant run deep. The business started decades ago in West Texas and moved to Anna in 2012.

The small white building, with its vintage red-and-white sign, has been a city staple ever since.

“I was raised in a drive-in like this,” Spurlock Perez said. “My earliest memories go back to when I was about four years old.”

Now, after 13 years in Anna, the Spurlock family is closing its doors for good.
