KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- An historic day in the Middle East.

President Donald Trump’s long-negotiated ceasefire deal has been officially signed in Egypt, marking a major turning point in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

The agreement brought home the last 20 living Israeli hostages a moment that Jewish communities around the world had been praying for.

"It was nonstop tears from about 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. last night, tears of joy,” said Neta Meltzer, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Bureau in Kansas City.

Meltzer said since October 7, 2023 every day has felt as though October 7 hasn't ended. She said Monday finally feels like October 8.
