PARKMAN TOWNSHIP, Ohio ( WOIO /Gray News) – A woman riding in a horse-drawn buggy in Ohio was killed Sunday after a commercial truck slammed into the back of it, according to officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a 31-year-old man from Dearborn, Michigan, was driving a Volvo commercial truck on US-422, behind the horse and buggy just before 7:45 a.m.

According to OSHP, the truck hit the back of the buggy, ejecting a man and a woman riding inside.

The woman, identified as 60-year-old Mary A. Byler of Burton, died on the scene from her injuries.

The 62-year-old Burton man controlling the buggy was flown to University Hospitals Medical Center in Cleveland with serious injuries, OSHP said.
