BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A burn ban was announced in East Feliciana Parish on Tuesday.
According to the East Feliciana Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, the parish faces potential disaster due to extreme heat, wildfire and drought conditions.
Police Jury President Louis Kent proclaimed the burn ban. Kent claims such action must be taken now.
Kent stated in the proclamation that heat-related emergencies are imminent and are a definite threat to life and property.
This burn ban is effective immediately.
Other parishes with active burn bans include St. Landry, Acadia, Beauregard, Vernon, Sabine, Natchitoches, De Soto, and Caddo.
